Post Before Rome

I have just arrived in Rome, and even though I was not able to post this before I actually left Seattle, I thought I should do so anyway.

In Rome, I am most looking forward to getting to know the city as the Romans do. I can't wait for the moment when I know how to get around relatively well, know how to speak some Italian, have my favorite restaurant to go to, and become a familiar face at a local coffee shop.

The thing I am most dreading about Rome is being away from Seattle for so long. This will be the longest that I have been away from Seattle and my family and friends, and I know it will be a hard adjustment.
